Donations

We cannot name the countless individuals and organisations who have given their generous support in so many ways. We received over £10000 cash donations from many individuals, organisations and faith groups Without whose goodwill, we would be unable to provide our vital emergency support to destitute asylum seekers. In total, we managed to raise over £11000 donation during 2007/08 which we use towards the cost of our Drop in for destitute asylum seekers.

With thanks to the generosity of the public and the hard work of our dedicated volunteers, our Brent Cross collection day in November 2007 raised nearly £600.
During the year food was donated from numerous churches, temples and synagogues. The food was utilised as emergency food parcels for destitute asylum seekers at our weekly Drop In. It was not practical to value these vital donations but we believe the retail value to be in excess of £6000.

During the year, many donors with a probable value in excess of £3000 provided second hand clothes and baby equipment. For our end of year party we were donated many gifts from various sources and in particular received massive donation of brand new stationary as gifts for children from Fila-Dixon Group.

Emergency Support - Ways You Can Help!

We provide emergency support in the form of food parcels, clothes, and toiletries for destitute asylum seekers.

We give emergency food to local people in crisis. The most useful food items are tinned meat, tinned fish, pasta, rice, tinned fruit and vegetables, and cooking oil. Other items are also welcome.

Suitable toiletries to donate include soap, shampoo, toothbrushes and toothpaste, female hygiene products, disposable razors, shaving cream, and deodorant.

Clothes: Some refugees and asylum seekers enter the UK with inadequate clothing and suffer due to the British winters! Instead of throwing unwanted clothes away please recycle them by donating them to us. Towels and bedding are also essential.

Where to donate: You can bring food, clothes or toiletries to Barnet Refugee Service, 8th Floor Podium, Hyde House, The Hyde, Colindale, London, NW9 6LH. Please bring them within office hours

A Message From Our Patron

Last year I visited the Barnet Refugee Service, and met the trustees, the staff and some of the volunteers and clients.  I was moved and impressed by the real difference BRS has made to so many lives.
